Equipment

  • 12" Cast Iron Skillet or Regular Skillet
  • Cutting Board & Chef Knife
  • Wooden Spoon

Ingredients

Base Mixture

Condiments

  • Pickles
  • Diced Onion
  • Cheese
  • 4" Rotella Buns (or any 4" hamburger bun you prefer)

Instructions

  • Brown thawed ground beef in skillet on medium heat. Drain fat & water when beef is evenly browned.
    sloppy Joe mixture
  • Add 1 medium yellow onion, diced and continue to cook until onion is translucent. Yellow onions have the strongest onion flavor and are rich in antioxidants, so we like them better than other onions. Once the onions are translucent, add all remaining ingredients and stir.
    sloppy Joe mixture
  • Keep on heat until the mixture is simmering and simmer for 5 – 10 minutes on low/medium heat.
    simmering mixture
  • Prep bottom buns with a layer of pickles, ketchup, mustard and some fresh, diced onion. Spoon a generous amount of Sloppy Joe to the top of the condiments on the bottom bun.
    topping sloppy Joe
  • Now is the time to add a slice of American cheese, if you are inclined, or keep it simple and add the top bun.
