Pair it with one of our DIY Jerky Making Kits and you’ll be on the way to becoming a master jerky maker right in your own kitchen. This roast is large enough to allow for cutting jerky across the grain (like we do in our Lucky Beef Jerky product line) or with the grain, as jerky was cut in “the old days.” Cutting jerky with the grain will make a chewier end product, across the grain makes tender, easy to bite beef jerky. Don’t have a fancy smoker?? Don’t sweat that for a second. A conventional oven works great for making jerky, all it takes is 5lbs of thin sliced beef round, 1 packet of cure, 1 packet (or more if you wish) of seasoning and a few hours in the oven at it’s lowest setting with the oven door cracked open. One 5lb roast will yield approximately 40oz of finished beef jerky…that equates to 26.6 1.5oz bags of jerky.
